Baseball West Island: an online home for a sports community
A bilingual WordPress website for the youth baseball association of Pointe-Claire and Dorval: volunteers publish the news themselves, families find all the league information, and the team apparel store is one click away.
The client
Baseball West Island offers baseball to boys and girls in Pointe-Claire and Dorval, from Novice Rallye Cap to 18U, plus a girls' baseball program. The association plays in the Lac St. Louis League (LSL) and follows Baseball Quebec and Baseball Canada rules. It runs thanks to volunteers, coaches and game officials: umpires and scorekeepers.
The challenge
- Keep hundreds of families informed: registration dates, special events, rule changes, schedules.
- Let volunteers publish on their own, with no technical skills and no developer needed.
- Reach a bilingual community, English- and French-speaking.
- Bring scattered tools together: online registration, league schedules and standings, the apparel store.
What we built
A news feed the team runs itself
Registration opening with early-bird pricing, a family fun day, new Baseball Quebec rules, league key dates, calls for umpires and scorekeepers… The association publishes its news directly in WordPress. The home page features it as "Breaking news" and as a news feed.
One page per division
Novice Rallye Cap, 9U, 11U, 13U, 15U, 18U and girls' baseball: each division has its own page. Parents quickly find the information that applies to their child.
All the league information in one place
The menu gives direct access to Spordle registration, the events calendar, LSL league schedules and standings, the fields and resources for coaches. A section is dedicated to recruiting game officials (umpires and scorekeepers), open to young people from age 12.
The team apparel store
A "Get your new gear today!" banner leads to the West Island Baseball custom apparel collection. Families order the club's colours in a few clicks.
Bilingual English and French
The site is available in English and French, with a language switcher on every page.
